Birthday & Christmas Treats – catch up

12th January 2018

For my birthday last year, Antony, Heba and the boys gave me a voucher for a Spa Day at Bannatynes in Leicester. As I had contracted Shingles on the way back from Spain (very very painful… definitely not recommended) we had to postpone from December appointment to January.

Bannatynes, Leicester

We had a great day and enjoyed the pampering enormously.

On arrival we were given a goodie bag which inclued a white cotton dressing gown; slippers; bottle of water; goggles; towel; etc. We were treated to a complimentary coffee and hot chocolate and asked to fill in a health questionaire. Then we were free to change into swimwear and use the swimming pool for as long as we wished.

The pool was lovely and warm and we were the only ones there so it wasn’t embarrassing in being still overweight.

We had the use of the Jacuzzi, steam rooms and saunas all morning.

It’s quite amazing that you don’t realise how heavy you are until you’ve been in the water for a while then get out. That’s when it hits you how heavy you actually are. This made me want to keep losing the weight. So now I’m on a mission.

After the swimming and saunas we had an appointment for the therapy. We were together in one room and were treated to a back and shoulders massage with relaxing oils then a head shiatsu. This was amazing. I think Mike went to sleep at this point.

Fully refreshed we drove home and vowed that we would do that again next year.

Thank you for a wonderful birthday treat Heba, Antony, Max, Daniel and Dylan.

Truly Scrumptious Afternoon Tea

As part of our Christmas presents, Chris, Laura and the boys gave us a voucher for afternoon tea at Marco Pierre Whites New York Italian restaurant in Kegworth. So we duly went off not really knowing what to expect.

Enjoying the drink and cakes

Arriving at the hotel we were greeted by the receptionist who showed us through to the restaurant and our table.

One of my 5 a day in a glass

As we were the only ones there it was a bit quiet, but they turned the music up a little to drown the silence… 😉 and asked us if we would like a glass of proscecco and glass of wine… Oh how could we refuse? Then along came the main event. A lovely pot of tea with fine China cups and saucers and a cake stand full of goodies. Just how was I suppose to continue with the diet after this.

Although we were on our own in the restaurant the staff made us feel really comfortable and we had a great time….. even though we didn’t eat for 2 weeks afterwards…..

Thank you Chris, Laura , Harry and Jack for a lovely present

Thank you to Marco Pierre Whites New York Italian in Kegworth.
