Cut Work Practise

We should have started packing today, but we realised we had appointments to go to the dentist and hygienist before leaving home. So after we had cleaned and flossed our teeth to within an inch of our lives we went trembling to the dreaded dentist. Actually I don’t mind the dentist it is the hygienist that scares me more. However, the verdict is that all’s well with the teeth….. but the gums have got to come out… boom! boom!

Came back home and really didn’t feel like packing so ended up mooching as you do… a book had arrived which I had ordered last week from Amazon called 101 Best Loved Designs for Cross Stitch and Country Crafts. I have been searching for a particular pattern which has intrigued me for some time. It is part cross stitch and part hardanger. I am hoping that I will be able to complete it later this year.

In preparation for starting it, I have been practising some cut work stitches, and have put some photos here for you to see. It is not that difficult, you just need good light and not be tired, and very sharp pointed embroidery scissors. I think I will have to buy some more scissors as it became apparent that mine weren’t that sharp anymore.

Tomorrow, we are going to support Harry at his award ceremony at school. Then we are collecting them from school and having them until Mum and Dad get home. I think that will be the last time they will be coming over then until we come back in October, although we are all meeting up at the weekend for a family meal.  Oh dear … I don’t like this bit of the year. Once I’m gone and back on site I shall be fine again, just feeling a little low this week. On the good side,  my cold is going and Mike is feeling better also.
