Thursday is market day here in Benicassim. People here say it’s quite good. So we amble on down past the bridge to nowhere…. to the market.
It is bustling with folk. The vegetable stalls look so inviting. What shall we buy first?
Arhhh… seems the churros are calling. €3 For 9 wow… freshly cooked hot and sugary…
Mike’s been looking for a man-bag ever since we left Rocamadour, surely we should get one here.
2 bags later…. lol
We have bought nearly 1kg of olives (egg size), some oniony things and some chillies. And a bag of pork scratchings. I’ve never tasted pork scratchings so that’ll be a first.
We stop at Vincent’s bar for coffee and they bring us 2 coffees and toastados with tomatoes. €2.20 pp. Wonderful as a French couple join us and we talk the international language of hand signals and slow pronounced English and French.
As we leave we see Phil and Jane our neighbours parking their bikes ready to go into the market. See you later…
We make our way back to site after shopping for supper in Lidls.
Bernie and Lyn are due to arrive today but we haven’t heard what time. So we settle down. Put Rod Stewart on Alexa and sunbathe. Phew this holiday lark, very tiring!
After a cold drink, Phil and Jane return. We quickly start a conversation and within minutes we are laughing and telling stories. The beers start flowing. And before we know it it is nearly 5pm. The sun is going down fast and with it the heat. Mike and I quickly put on a jumper and go down to the seafront to catch the sunset
On the way back the phone rings. It’s Bernie and Lyn who have arrived on site. We pop round and welcome them. Gin and tonic is the order of the day. A wee chat and plans to meet up an hour later in the bar for a meal.
3 course meal for two plus 2 beers = €14.25.
60s singers included…. great evening. Great friends.
So tomorrow’s another day.
